I think this is why you should never write a memoir when you are 21. You haven’t done anything, and the achievements you rack up (in the authors case ice skating trophies) are all hollow. They mean nothing to anyone after the event, least of all the older self.
So this is kind like reading Chris Ware: the display of nothing for extended periods of time until the nothing is finally recognized.
