What’s the point of journalism?

I’m not sure what this graphic novel says, as it’s not about journalism, but about journalists. And the ex marine / childhood friend they try to nag into emotionally cathartic conversations. And the viewpoints they have coming in, which they are going to reinforce because above all else, there must be a story.

Good but a little contrived. The plot swerved around a bit to keep everyone on stage for what should have been a much larger production:

Never has My Little Pony been so terrifying.

Fine, I guess.

Not as much happens as the other ones, but it's a well written and competent war book. I do wish there was more about the Lankies.

Pretty great. The steampunk premise is not nearly as important as the AI question. Which is “what if the only way we could get AI to work for us would be to have another program torture them until they did what we say?”

The resulting society and underclass and uprising writes itself. Pretty neat.

Overly portentous narrator. Like Wes Anderson wrote a comic book.

This is a lovely book, although it does not deal as directly with the arcane / occult as the previous book. Also, similar to the last book, there are tidbits which are dropped earlier i.e. "fruit" which are never fulfilled in the conclusion.

For all of that, the writing is clear and the plot is refreshingly unpredictable.
