Pull three people out of prison--a disgraced paladin, a convicted forger, and a heartless assassin. Give them weapons, carnivorous tattoos, and each other. Point them at the enemy.

Unfortunately, the second part of the duology is weaker than the first. This is bc of two reasons: a) The "will they or won't they" question between two main characters is dragged out far too much, and b) the story becomes even more generic. However, as is usually the case with Kingfisher, the characters are super likeable, and the dialogues (and inner monologues) are well written, so I still enjoyed it.
