I really wanted to like this, but I didn’t. This isn’t a science fiction novel, it’s fantasy. Everything is magic and nothing works according to any rules. It frankly would have been better that way,but waving galaxies and neutrinos and tech words around just make it feel like a tinfoil universe.

Sort of if John Wick was your Uber driver. Not very good otherwise. I think it's trying to be funny?

It’s nice to have a book where the main character isn’t a soulless hyper competent loner assassin.

There’s only three things that happen in the book:

Sal meets someone who talks too much and is very keen to let Sal know she is disliked.
Sal spends lots of time running around while the enemy shoots magic bolts like a video game character boss.
Sal fires gun. Gun goes boom.
Sal sulks about all the bad things happening to her and what an unlovable person she is.

It’s not bad, but the world building is a thin tissue paper around the fight scenes. It’s sort of like Ready Player Go if you took out the pop culture references and added in a bunch of self loathing.

I wish it had stayed with the character as a child instead of skipping around. There’s lots of good stuff here, but it doesn’t establish any kind of plot or structure.

But it is very nice to see real fear inducing science fiction in a comic book.
